Falling Leaves
Last week, as we were driving up highway 281, we were noticing the falling of the leaves and how when the leaves are gone, you can see which trees have straight trunks and which are bent or crooked. It is also possible upon closer examination to see the leftover bird and squirrel nests in each one, along with rotting areas, broken branches and other blemishes that are covered by the leaves during the summer months.
Could it be that at some point we might be like trees without leaves? This is especially true when we stand before God. The scripture tells us that nothing is hidden from him. We may be able to cover up our flaws and keep them hidden from others, but God knows not only how we look on the outside, but he also knows what we look like beneath the exterior.
Luke 8:17..."There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known."
1 Corinthians 4:5..."He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God."
One more...Hebrews 4:13..." Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account."
So the next time we see trees without their leaves, may we be reminded to keep our lives clear of those things that we wouldn't want to be revealed if we should "loose our leaves."
Just thinking,
